Mark makes a great point. Let's hook up some traditional keyboards to the ipods. When students are at their desks and really need wordprocessing power then they can plug in a keyboard.
I would love to cooperate with you regarding the apps you are using in Elementary Schools! I am so happy to see that you are approaching bilingual education with this technology. Thank you for sharing. I was unable to load your photo shows?

1. Karen Thompson (member) does training sessions with teachers on a regular basis. She has brought out a collection of them with her sessions and she is a great resource.
2. I think it is very important to start with teachers and I like your ideas…
Thanks for your welcome....Just about to do a project with 180 iPod Touches in South Australia. I guess my training that I do for teachers is unique, in that currently I am working from home and not in the classroom. I present that from helping the teachers to help the students...quite often, teacher's are forgotten and their learning isn't always scaffolded...
I have worked with ipods (and teachers) since 2005 and that is one of the reasons was chosed to be an ADE (apple distinguished educator).
My passion is music technology and ultimately combining mobile learning with music learning...
What works? Concentrating on apps that work for teachers rather than overwhelming them....sometimes the simple things work, and always making it fun!

Thank you so much for that personal welcome, Scott. I am excited to be a part of this group. Right now, I have a group of school leaders--teachers, principals, and tech coordinators participating in an ongoing tech academy. All of them received iPod touches as part of it and we are learning about what they can do and how they could possibly be used in the classroom. I'm a complete newbie to this, but I do have an iPhone which I've had for over a year. Love it. I'm looking forward to learning a lot in this group. Thanks again!
Our first app on iTunes is "Adpated Book - 5 Pumpkins" please check it out for Halloween! I recently started a new business, www.developease.com. I hope you enjoy the app and the business concept. I look forward to participating in this community, great idea to encourage communication.
Right now I'm an Education student at the University of Regina. Dean Shareski directed me here since I am going to do my final project on implementing iPods into class rooms. There are definitely some great resources on here! I'm looking forward to reading more into everything and
Thanks for the welcome - 'Maybe' means I am still learning to use the iphone so I have to reserve judgement about its place in the classroom. It is also a response reflective of where the school I am at is with technology use. I can see its possible values - but putting it into practical use is another question. It would require considerable change in culture at my school and to a great degree and is in competition with a curriculum that is geared toward success in examinations (and therefore very conservative traditional models of teaching) While I may be excited an enthusiastiv my hands are tied by an overpacked curriculum, resistance in my staff and students (believe me when I say one of me senior classes ridiculed the 'ning' I built to the point I ended up dropping it as a resourceful tool for learning.) I have not given up or closed the door - but I am aware that by the time I get others on board there is likely to be something else out there to challenge it and the cycle will start again. In my school it is not likely in the forseeable futurew that students will be supplied with iphones or ipod touches - and many do not own them personally yet. We are currently having 4-6 networked pc's per classroom installed over a period of 12 months and have to be grateful for that - I need to work with what i have now. I can finally adjust teaching methods to allow students to use this equipment during lessons without booking out a room that has 30 terminals.
So I am not about to poo poo the use of ipod/iphone in the classroom - I can see it being engaging in some ways - and I am here to see just what others are doing but for many reasons I am not embracing it and jumping up and down about having it where I work. The education system, funding, and curriculum all currently block what I might be able to do with this technology let alone my own confidence with it.
I think this would make a great poster session. I definitely think you could role this into your ISTE internship as well. Glad to be part of the group.
I told the ISTE folks that they need to put more emphasis on the iPhone/iTouch Apps area as it is going to be huge as more states adopt tech resources instead of textbooks. I got agreement. Look forward to that happening.
